The seeds of the Church in Orissa

Home » 2009 » 2009 » June

Dear friends,

If “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church,” as Tertullian (160-220 AD), one of the early church leaders said, the persecution in Orissa, India is certainly bearing fruit for the glory of God!

I’d like to share with you an excerpt from a recent letter I received that illustrates this truth profoundly. The letter came from one of GTN’s Church Planters in the persecution-torn state of Orissa, India. His name is Pratul Kumar Das.

You probably remember the reports coming out last Fall of churches being burned, believers beaten, abused and threatened with death, as well as thousands of Christians displaced from their homes by the persecution. Pastor Das is serving Christ right in the middle of this persecution-laden region! And God is showing His power and changing lives here on a daily basis.

Pastor Das wrote the following to Sindhu Pani (GTN’s International Director for the Country of India) a few weeks ago:

The original letter written to Sindhu from Pastor Das.

Pastor PK Das

Pastor Das is pictured with GTN staff member Joel Madson and Rev. Sindhu Pani last year.

This is just one of hundreds of pastors and church planters that GTN is actively supporting and / or training on a regular basis in this part of the world! Because of your faithful prayers and financial support, men like PK Das are able to take the life-changing Word of God into persecution-infested regions of the world like Orissa, India and see lives changed for the glory of God!

Thanks again for taking time to read this brief update. We need and greatly appreciate your gracious prayers on our behalf!

Working tirelessly, passionately and joyfully to spread the glory of God among the nations of the world,

Paul
