The 10/40 Window and Strategic Evangelism

David Shibley, a brother in Christ and fellow colleague in the same type of ministry that GTN is involved in, wrote the following (David is President of Global Advance):

“Are we somehow more precious to God than a low caste person in India?  Years ago, Oswald J. Smith asked the piercing question, ‘Why should anyone hear the gospel twice until everyone has heard it once?’ In the now famous 10/40 window located between the 10 and 40 degree parallels north of the equator from West Africa to East Asia, live over half the people in the world.  Many of them have never heard the gospel.  Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism all have their seats of power and authority located in this geographic rectangle called the 10/40 window.

“The majority of the world’s most pronounced poverty is in this region. The Apostle Paul said, ‘I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been preached.’ …Let’s pray today that the light of the gospel will come to the almost three billion people who live in the 10/40 window.  Why should anyone hear the gospel twice, until everyone has heard it once?”

GTN is extensively involved throughout the 10/40 Window!
